Amphilophus citrinellus (midas cichlid)

This freshwater fish in natural conditions usually has less coloration, but most are light orange and orange-red. Males have a distict hump on the forehead, which indicates the age and position of the individual. They reach size of 25 cm. Couples carefully guard their eggs and later offspring. While the female always remains near them, the male attacks every intruder who approaches.
