The first AIMused project meeting took place at the National Marine Fisheries Research Institute<\/a> in Gdynia. For two days, we discussed what accessibility in tourism means to us, how to jointly implement our ideas, and how to shape the project so that it brings real change in the South Baltic region. The meeting was attended by project partners, representatives of the Interreg South Baltic Programme<\/a>, and the Pomeranian Regional Tourist Organization<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

13 October 2025 \/ AIMused officially launched<\/strong><\/h6>\n\n\n\n

Director of the National Marine Fisheries Research Institute<\/a>, Piotr Margo\u0144ski, and Secretary of State at the Ministry of Funds and Regional Policy<\/a>, Jacek Karnowski, signed the subsidy contract for the AIMused project, thus launching its implementation. The project is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund under the Interreg South Baltic Programme 2021\u20132027<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

About the project<\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

AIMused is the first initiative in the South Baltic region that combines artificial intelligence and accessibility in educational tourism.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Its goal is to make the content and experiences offered by tourist attractions more accessible<\/strong> \u2013 so that everyone, regardless of age, ability or perception of the world, can enjoy them fully.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project brings together institutions with diverse profiles \u2013 museums, an aquarium, SMEs and universities. This cross-sectoral collaboration merges scientific, technological and social expertise to create tools that will make tourism more inclusive, understandable and visitor-friendly.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Project objective<\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Across Europe \u2013 and in the South Baltic region as well \u2013 societies are ageing and the number of people with cognitive and accessibility needs is growing.
According to Eurostat data (2023), 27% of Europeans aged 16 and over<\/strong> reported having some form of disability. This equals 101 million people<\/strong>, or one in four adults<\/strong> in the EU.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the countries in our region, the statistics are as follows:
Poland \u2013 24.4%, Germany \u2013 28.2%, Denmark \u2013 36.7%, Lithuania \u2013 27.4%, Sweden \u2013 22.6%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The AIMused<\/strong> project aims to improve the digital and informational accessibility<\/strong> of tourist attractions and to create a more inclusive offer for people with diverse needs \u2013 including persons with disabilities, older adults and neurodivergent visitors. The project uses modern tools, including those based on artificial intelligence<\/strong>, to help attractions adapt their content and communication to different audiences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Presenting information in a way that is accessible to as many people as possible strengthens their participation in cultural, educational and environmental experiences.<\/strong>
<\/strong>This is why inclusive solutions are needed \u2013 so that everyone can take part in tourism and learning without barriers<\/strong> and in a way that matches their abilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Project impact<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

AIMused<\/strong> will set new standards for content accessibility in educational tourism.<\/strong>
<\/strong>Through international cooperation, the project will deliver scalable and transferable solutions<\/strong> that can be implemented in various types of institutions \u2013 from science centres and museums to theme parks and nature heritage sites.It will help organisations develop offers that combine education, technology and accessibility<\/strong> \u2013 so that everyone can take part in discovering the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What will be developed?<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

  • Guidelines<\/strong> describing best practices for accessibility in tourism, universal design and plain language,<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Digital and physical tools<\/strong> improving access to content in tourist sites,<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Training and workshops<\/strong> for tourism and education professionals on communication, cognitive accessibility and the use of AI to support visitors,<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Publications<\/strong> \u2013 scientific and popular \u2013 summarising the project\u2019s results and recommendations for the tourism sector.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    All solutions will be tested in different South Baltic countries<\/strong> with the participation of people with special needs and accessibility experts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
