Factors such as pressure, temperature, light and food availability are discussed, interesting animals’ adaptations to life in inhospitable areas and recorders of immersion. Would the Challenger Deep contain Mount Everest? Why is the Baltic called “the graveyard of Europe”? How deep can the frilled shark live and what is the light color of the goulper eel’s tail?
