Young individuals are lemon yellow, while adults are orange, with red spots around the gill cover. They live in warm waters of coral reefs and lagoons at depths of 5 to 40 m.
It comes from the Indo-Pacific. Lives near the coral reefs and at the rocky bottom at a depth of 5 to 50 m. It reaches a length of about 50 cm. It feeds on fine zooplankton.
